Telecom Contract with Unicom

This is my appraisal of the situation with Unicom Telecom Contracts, these are my views and I am open to comments and corrections from anyone.

For clarity and as I understand it for a contract to be enforceable in law, the contract must be deemed to be fair and reasonable; it should not be misleading or dishonest.

What to watch out for in a "Company from Hell"

One key attributes of a Company from Hell is the way they work in securing your business, what you have to remember is that they keep their tele-sales staff on a tight leash and probably pay them low or no wages but high commissions on completed sales.  To try to attain high sales thy (Company from Hell) train their tele-sales staff rigorously and arm them in the art of: -

Do you feel alone?

When you come across a what you think to be a Company from Hell and your back is against the wall you will often feel isolated and alone, more so if you have a look around at some of the business review sites and you note that the excellent/good reviews out weigh the bad reviews by a long way.  This can often add to your insecurity, well actually this can be turned into a positive, more so if you realise that many of poorer quality suppliers actually pay professional to write reviews and post them with 5 Stars or high ratings.

Can a supplier add services to account without your Authority?

Well the short answer to this is "Yes they can" they just do it weather it is morally or legally correct is another matter!

I'm afraid I am back to my old friend Universal Utilities (t/a Unicom) for this one but I'm sure there are others at it.  In this instance Unicom have come up with a new product called "Fraud Defender" which thy have applied to everyone's telecom account, and although it is free for a trial period it will become chargeable after the trial expires.

Universal Utilities (t/a Unicom)

This is the first company that I am going to list on my "Companies from Hell" blog if only because I am experiencing a very difficult time with them as they are driven by money and profit and have no real concept of customer service.

To be fair to Unicom I have been with them for a number of years trouble free but that is only because I have had no reason to question them, things have just gone along tickety boo.

Invoice arrives (Tick)
Price reasonable (Tick)
Invoice paid (Tick)

and so it goes on, until Unicom get greedy and they want my broadband too, nothing untoward there I hear you say, well no you are correct, but where it starts to get a bit iffy is the way they try to coerce you into taking their services.
